I'm so pleased and proud to be bringing this life-changing teacher training course to Matlock again for the fourth time. TeenYoga was founded by Charlotta Martinus. Our trainer for our 4th course is Yvonne, who has trained and worked with Charlotta for many, many years (see bio below)
The TeenYoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training Course is open to youth workers, yoga teachers, secondary school teachers, school workers, mental health workers, psychologists, therapists and parents. You will learn how to teach yoga and mindfulness to 11-18 year olds in and out of school setting. The course, the only fully fledged Yoga Alliance UK and Independent Yoga Network accredited and insured teen yoga course in the UK, has been constructed with the help of specialist adolescent Neuroscientists, Anatomists, Psychologists and Yoga Teachers. It is now taught in several continents across the world.
The TeenYoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training Course comes with a detailed and comprehensive manual with plenty of practical class plans and ideas. In this manual you will find a detailed list of the benefits of yoga and a list of suitable postures for this particular age group, targeting specific issues. There is a special section on behaviour management.
This course qualifies you as a Level 3 Coach, within the Sports Partnership as well as qualifies you to access funding through Sportivate for your classes.

Yvonne Morey: Yvonne has worked with young people for over a decade. Through counselling and teaching yoga to teenagers, she has had the opportunity to get a valuable insight into the teenage mind. Her passion for the welfare of young people spurred her on to work with Charlotta Martinus (TeenYoga founder) to design a course specifically for PE teachers.
Yvonne has worked with children for many years and has often discovered that they experience a sense of disconnection, especially girls. Yvonne has an interest in resilience factors in young people and, in particular, the impact of sport and physical activity. In her experience most of the children she sees in counselling and those that are resistant to PE don’t feel connected to their physical bodies, have very little self esteem and don’t like PE. Yvonne feels we need to change the way we teach physical education so it is inclusive, sensitive and not always competitive. It is through this course that she hopes PE teachers as well as all those who work with or come in contact with young people can feel that they have a better understanding of the “hard to reach” students and another tool to help encourage ALL students to feel connected, present and well.
